German Cockroach VS Brown Banded Cockroach

Gosh! My house is infested with Brown Banded Cockroaches (Supella longipalpa). There are many times people always mix up Supella longipalpa with Blattela germanica (German Cockroaches). Both of their sizes are quite similar but they can be easily identified with your naked eyes.

The above photo shown Supella longipalpa and well known as Brown Banded Cockroach. Do not mistaken it with German Cockroach (Blatella germanica). Their size is about the same. 10 to 14mm. Adults pronotum is in dark brown colour. From top view you will see 2 dark bands and that's why it calls Brown banded cockroach. Female is darker than male in colour. Can be found in the building, furniture, offices and etc.

The above photo shown German Cockroach (common name). Species name is well known as Blattella germanica. The adult has parallel black bands running down to ther pronotum. Size is around 10 to 15mm. Female cockroach carries the egg (ootheca) till the hatching time. Nymphs are black. Normally found in F&B outlets, cinema, supermarket, KTV lounge and etc. The most aggresive cockroach species among all the rest.

And mind telling you. Among all types of cockroaches, Blatella germanica is the most aggresive species.
